So I hope you had a great trip today and got a little rest on the plane too. The basement is drying up so well! I got the living room carpet cleaned today too…yes that is correct. You aren’t even gone for 12 hours and the drama begins LOL. Jake choked on an apple this afternoon and puked up that and his lunch all over the living room. Needless to say, it is not something that a pregnant woman should be cleaning up. Man was that hard!! He is fine though, the humidity is so high today so his breathing is acting up. We stayed inside all afternoon. He decided not to nap which made for a pleasant afternoon 🙂 But we kept ourselves entertained. We took a trip to the Library and brought home a huge stack of books and a plethora of movies to keep us busy for a few days atleast. Dad and Kim want to take us to the zoo and butterfly house and Sertoma Park tomorrow. I haven’t decided yet, since the weather is supposed to be hot and humid again. I don’t know if Jake could take a whole day out in the humidity. Rachel is doing great. She has had one weepy moment today but snapped out of it really quite quickly. She has been a huge helper for me so far so hopefully that continues. Thank you so much for the sweet notes that you left each of us this morning. The kids thought that was just the greatest thing and Rachel wants to write to you, so I will let her type on here, maybe tomorrow. Well I don’t really think I have anything else to share, but I love you and I will miss you but I know you are safe in the Lord’s watch. I will be praying like crazy for you and the team this week. I pray you all stay healthy and that you all have a great experience. May the good Lord use each one of you as his tools this week. Take care, until later. I love you!!

Hey Becky it is good to hear from you. Sounds like you had some day yesterday. We made it to the base at about 11 o’clock last night there time, they are a hour behind because they don’t have daylight savings time here. The plane fights went good and were smooth for the most part. Well I better go it is devotion time. I love you and miss you and the kids. Take care of yourself.

Hey babe,
So I don’t even know where to begin to tell you about our adventurous Saturday. I guess I’ll begin at the begining 🙂
So we all got up around 6am, I made biscuits, scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. We got all cleaned up and packed up and Dad and Kim came and picked us up around 9am. We headed to Sioux Falls. The dew points were in the high 70’s with temps well over 90 so we changed our plans to all indoors for Jake’s sake. We went to the Washington Pavillion and Kerby Science Center. The kids had an absolute blast!! You would love it too. It is all hands on science stuff. But really fun science stuff. Jake couldn’t stay at one thing very long as his eye would catch something new and he would be off. Rachel of course was full of questions and needed to know ‘why’ and ‘how’ about everything! We left there after a late lunch around 3ish and got home 4:30ish. Then we got cleaned up and since the weather was so crazy hot and humid mom said no way to a fire and said that we all deserved a treat. So we went to the Ice Cream Shop in LeMars for supper…yes, for supper. We all had icecream treats for our supper around 6pm. Even Jake ate an entire dish of cotton candy ice cream! Then we went back to mom and dad’s house to play cards. This is when life got a bit scary for me and the other little worrier….Rach. Tiffany started calling telling me to watch the weather and John and her thought that either I had better stay at mom and dad’s or get home now and head to their house. We were in Severe Thunderstorm warnings and Tornado watches. The sky looked pretty freaky. dad started checking the radars and he was sure it would go around us, but while we were playing cards I looked out the window and saw black coming from the OC way and that is when the storm really kicked in. Tiff called and said John says stay there until we call you. It is really bad here. Well dad was just grilling our ‘dessert’…hot dogs, and quick got them off and we all started to eat when the lights went out….then on….then out….then on…then out!! Rachel was bawling. I was nervous but not too freaked out. It hailed pretty good, but only marble size. The wind was really strong and it rained really hard. The lightning was amazing!!! Constant huge sky to ground bolts that were almost blinding. But it was so beautiful. It finally calmed down and John said it was safe to come home around 10ish. Dad hooked the tractor up to the generator so we got electricity back. I gave Jake a bath there and then we headed home. It must have been bad here. There are huge tree branches down around town. My big flower pots were blown over. The flowers are mostly flat too. I didn’t check the damage to the back yard as it is too dark, but hopefully our grill and the kids stuff is all still there and ok. We are still in watches for the rest of the night with chances of a few more storms after midnight, but dad was pretty sure it would be fine. The kids are both sleeping in our bedroom. Jake has a bed on his crib mattress on our floor and Rachel is in bed with me. Tomorrow should be less exciting….I hope 🙂 I still haven’t gotten to obey Dr. Looby’s orders yet!! I haven’t had a moment to rest anyday so far, so tomorrow I am hoping to all lay down all afternoon and sleep!!!
How was your first official day?? Was it as exciting as ours?? HAHA I bet it was awesome!! You held your first medical clinic right? That was what I was looking forward to most. I am so excited to hear all about it. I realized today that I didn’t send a camera with you! What is wrong with me??!! I hope that someone else has one along to get some pics of you working for me. I want to see and hear about everything!! Tomorrow you go to another village for another clinic correct? Then building starts on Monday?

I am so anxious to talk to you!! I can’t wait to hear all about everything!!! How was your day today? Tomorrow starts the big week of building right? That will be a great time as well I am sure. How has the weather been? We are supposed to be done with the severe weather for the week. I sure hope so. Orange City got hit really hard last night. It sounds like a small tornado or atleast some really severe circulation hit them. Lots of damage in town. Mom and Dad’s house and yard looked alright today. Lots of sticks and stuff down but no major damage. A home in SC had a tree go through the front porch. Our house is fine. Our garden isn’t looking so great, but dad says it should pop back up and be alright. The cornfield behind our house is leaning pretty badly so the wind must have been rough here.
I am feeling really good. Baby is moving around good today. We all napped from around 2:45 when we got home from Mom and Dad’s house until 5:30. Jake slept until 6!! It felt so good. We are having a movie night right now since we all slept so much we don’t feel like going to bed yet. (it is 10pm) Jake needs to go to bed soon though. He had a rough day today. But don’t you worry about it. We have a busy week and the days we don’t have anything, I think we will head out to the farm so that Jake can ‘help’ grandpa. Well, that is all I had for today. It has been good to hear from you. Glad that everything turned out alright with the weather. We had rain some yesterday afternoon during the medical clinic and then again all morning but it stoped before we left. Yesterdays clinic was a very good one. They have an evangelical free church in the village so some of them were already belivers but we had some that accepted as well. Todays clinic was a little more difficult. The people were not very open or accepting and always wanted more. But everything turned out well in the end. I can tell you more about it when I am home. Yesterday I helped had out meds and tonight I played with the kids, we got killed in soccer! Well it is time to finnaly get a shower. Nobody has had one yet, last night we were out of water. But I better go it is about my turn for the shower.
Hi Daddy,
I miss you very much! I can’t wait for you to come back home. Did you find my card yet? Mommy hid it in your backpack. I have been busy. I went with Grandpa and Kim to the Science Museum on Saturday. and I got to touch everything there was there. I even got to lift a car!!! A real car!! On Saturday night Grandma let us have ice cream for supper. We went with Uncle Loren and all his friends to the ice cream shoppe and we didn’t get to have a campfire because it was so hot and then we had a big storm. I was so scared I cried alot!! The electricity went off and Grandma had to light candles all over so we had a little bit of light.
Today I started Arts and crafts in the park. It was fun. I made a visor, a giraffe puppet a little person puppet and 2 medals. I have ball at 5:30 and I am going to try to hit the ball super hard on my first pitch just for you!!!

Good Morning Handsome!
Wow, your second day of building today!! I bet you are loving this part! Hope everything is going well. I can’t believe it is Tuesday already! It will be Friday before we know it. I bet you won’t be ready to come back yet, but we certainly are ready for you!! Jake is a bit lost in the mornings, he is so used to his Daddy time when you two get up together. His new thing is ‘wet’s find Daddy mommy’. I say sorry bubby, we can’t, Daddy went on a special trip far away. ‘I go too?’, no you have to stay here and take care of Mommy, ‘No, Daddy do that, I find daddy for you’. It is really cute, just not at 4:00am!! LOL Super cute story before I forget. The baby was moving like crazy Sunday night. So much you could see my belly move, so Rachel wanted to feel. I placed her hands on my belly where the movement was and then Jake says, “Mommy, my baby moving too!” He takes my hands just as I had done to Rachel and places them on his tummy and says, “you feel that?” Rachel and I just laughed and laughed.
Jenn and I are taking just Rachel to Toy Story 3 in 3D in OC today. We heard from lots of people that it is really good, a bit darker then the other two but still really good. I wonder if Lydia is just too little for it, so Uncle Dan is going to hang out with Jake and then we are all going out for Chinese for supper. It should be a good day, which we deserve after the awful day we had yesterday. I will fill you in when you get home. Nothing to worry about, just a bad day.
I pray that you are seeing the Holy Spirit move in many lives this week, I bet that is just awesome!! I can’t wait to hear about that. I pray that you are staying healthy and having a wonderful time being a blessing to others. I can’t wait until we are able to go on this trip together. Well, it is 7am and both kiddos are up now, so I better sign off and get breakfast ready before it is time to head to arts and crafts.

We had another good day yesterday. Got the house framed in a light rain. While we were hanging sheetrock it started to rain harder. We had to hurry up and get it up so we could lay the roof tin on. I did the taping and mudding while the rest of the group worked on the outside. today we will sand and put more mud on and stucco. We got back to the base at about 4, it is nice working just donw the road. We had free time after supper til 8. Then we hed group devotion time. That was a great time of sharing about what God is doing and what everyone is experincing. I better get off, others are waiting to use this. See ya later.

Hi Daddy,
Thanks for the message. but I wanted to know if you got my card? Renember, I asked you that yesterday? I had a great ball game last night. I got to hit the ball 3 times!! The first two hits were pitched to me and they went really far. The third one I had to use the tee, it still went far, but I didn’t want to have to use the tee. Mommy said I did awesome!! I had another fun time at arts and crafts today. I made a mask. I will show you it when you get home. Jake was afraid of me when I wore it at first, but then he wanted to give me a kiss with it on…he is so silly!!
I am so excited!! Mommy and Aunt Jen are taking me to see Toy Story 3 in 3D today!! Then we are going to meet uncle Dan and Jake for chinese. It will be such a fun day!! I still miss you so much Daddy! Tonight mommy says that Jake and I have to start sleeping in our own beds downstairs again. Jake isn’t sleeping real well upstairs in Mommy’s room. I miss you so much that I want to give you a kiss. I blow kisses to you, have you gotten them??
Are you having fun? I wish I could be there with you. I taught Jake how to say Guatemala today. It is so cute when he says it. Well Mommy says I need to go and lay down for a rest before we go to the movie, so that is all. If mommy lets me, I will write you again and tell you about the movie.

It is 10:15pm and we got home around 9:15 ish from our Culver’s trip. Dad and Mom took us out for ice cream after Rachel’s game. You would have been so proud of her. She really hit the ball tonight and did really good in the outfield as well! She is so bummed that ball is over. She said she can’t wait for next year! Maybe we do have a future Mauer on our hands 🙂
Rachel wanted me to tell you that she loved the movie. It was really good. It was especially cool in 3D!! We went and tried out the new Chinese resteraunt after the movie. It is alright, I prefer A8, but it’s ok. Oh the kids also wanted me to tell you what happened to the swimming pool. Monday was a really really really bad day!!…so Tiff invited me over when the kids went to bed to sit outside and have some ‘ladies time’. I was just getting ready to make some popcorn for us, when I spotted that gray cat walking around the pool. I assumed it was just checking things out, not actually looking for a swim since cats hate water, but no, that bugger decided he needed a drink and dug his nice claws into the top ring to pull himself up. I grabbed my tennis shoe and chucked it at him…..yes I nailed the little bugger right in the head!! but that didn’t cure the pool problem as of course it was flat by morning. So we haven’t gotten a new pool yet, but Jake has to tell everyone about his broken pool and the naughty kitty that broke it. It is super cute.
I am so glad that all the families accepted Christ. I prayed so hard today!! So you adopted some children?? Well atleast it is two of them I really like LOL 🙂 Welcome to the family Jenna and Bethany!!! So you get to go shopping tomorrow. That sounds like a lot of fun!! We might go hang out with Mom and Dad at the farm and help dad with the grain bin. He got all the cement poured today. It is coming along really nicely. I have no idea how they are going to move a grain bin to the farm, but I am excited to see it all happen and get put together.
Well, I will continue praying for safety and health and I can’t wait to see you Friday night!!! I am assuming you should be home around 9ish?? Oh hey, you want to mention to the group that our 4th of July celebration has changed. It is on Monday night instead of Saturday night. The city fireworks are going to be on Monday the 5th. So please let them all know that. same time 8pm, bring lawn chair, beverage and may bring a snack to share. I will provide smores stuff.
Well I am going to hit the hay, see if I can actually get to sleep before 2am. I will be honest, I have not been able to take much time for rest this week and have been doing a bit too much. Jen came today and played with the kids all afternoon so I got some laundry done and got a little snooze in with my feet up, but otherwise, I have been go go go…can’t wait to get a little R& R with you 🙂 See you so soon!! It was nice to have a relaxing day today at the market. It is a little different than shopping at home. Tommorrow we need to be up at 4 am so we can get to the airport and get checked in so make our 8:15 flight. If all goes well we will be back in Maurice at around 9 pm. I can’t wait to get home to my family. I have really missed them, however I am glad I went it was an amazing experience.
